Right to Information

Right to Information is an International Concept gaining lots of progress in Pakistan with the efforts of
CPDI (Center for Peace and Development Initiatives) and CRTI (Coalition for Right to Information).
This concept is a Fundamental Right to Every Pakistani. It was included in the Constitution of Islamic
Republic of Pakistan in the year 2010 through the 18th Amendment in Article 19-A in the following words.

19A.Right to information:
Every citizen shall have the right to have access to information in all matters of public importance subject to regulation and reasonable restrictions imposed by law


2013 has been a remarkable year for some great developments in the RTI legislation regime in Pakistan. In the provinces of Punjab and KPK new RTI laws have been enacted recently. Civil Society, Social Sector Organizations, Professionals, Youth and Students, all are actively working on Right to Information under the umbrella of Coalition to Right to Information (CRTI)
